DOG STORIES WITH HAPPY ENDINGS is filled with dogs (and a few cats) that left indelible impressions on the families that loved them. Featuring pets like German shepherd RinTinTin and a lucky rescued mutt named Penny Lane, DOG STORIES WITH HAPPY ENDINGS spotlights those furry companions whose adventures—and misadventures—became part of family history.
Here we meet a 120-pound Rhodesian ridgeback named Kenya who could steal food from neighbors’ picnic tables without leaving a trace, as well as pit bull mix Garcia, a force of nature who enjoyed barking at the moon and chasing the tides at midnight. In this compilation, Newcomb also tells the stories of quintessential “bad dog” Piccolo, a tiny Chihuahua who terrorized an entire neighborhood, and her first Corgi, Simon, who introduced her to the bizarre and quirky dog show world.
Uplifting and light-hearted, this book is a celebration of dogs and family that will resonate with anyone who has ever owned a pet.

There are many, many books out there that will make you cry about the passing of a dog. This book is a joy to read. It's funny and heart warming. My only wish would be that it were four times as long.Product details

Dog Stories with Happy Endings edition by Connie Newcomb Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
“Dogs mark time in our lives.” Indeed, this memoir, presented as a series of standalone episodes about dogs (and a few cats) and their heartbreaking backstories and mischievous quirks (and an astonishingly pervasive penchant for stealing food), is really the unfolding of a family saga.
From the first, Rin Tin Tin, every bit as heroic and handsome as his famous namesake, to the last, Terra, a lovely and well-behaved Chihuahua-terrier who was marked "unadoptable" for no other reason than that she was already ten years old, Connie's writing brings each of these canine companions to life, highlighting the indelible roles they've played in creating lively and loving homes for herself and her family, a few of whom contribute stories of their own.
My favorite has to be the side-splittingly hilarious chapter in which Connie's brother Chris recounts his memories of the tenacious little terror, Garcia, whose legendary trouble-seeking ways drives Chris to recall, in his despair,"The Second Coming" by Yeats.
The memoir is full of touching moments punctuated by heartfelt appeals to bring to light the plight of beautiful and lovable dogs who are abandoned, unwanted, abused, and otherwise slip through the cracks.
Dog Stories with Happy Endings is at turns guffaw-inducing and poignant, and lives up to its title by bringing us all a happy ending.
If you love dogs, and you grew up with dogs as part of your life, this book will bring happy memories lots of laugs and maybe a a few tears. Nut a few and give them as holiday presents. A quick and most enjoyable read.
